Happy Earth Day!

Metro Productions is celebrating the 39th annual Earth Day, as we work toward becoming a Green-certified company! Metro wants to do our part in promoting a healthy, sustainable environment, and we’ve started making some big changes, in addition to some of our previous earth-friendly practices. We have brand new recycling bins for plastics and cans, and have become a nearly “paperless” office. We turn off lights whenever possible, and are becoming more and more energy efficient. We’re also getting re-usable water bottles in place of single-use plastic ones, and are recycling old tapes and equipment. These are just a few of the environmentally sound practices Metro has put into place… stay tuned for more, and for our big Green certification announcement!

Metro Wins New York Festivals 2009 Bronze WorldMedal

Metro Productions is pleased to announce that they have been awarded a 2009 Bronze WorldMedal from the New York Festivals. The honor was given in the category of “Industrial Productions: Internal Use” for the 3-minute video “Who Are these Guys,” produced for Northrop Grumman. This is the fourth time Metro productions has been honored by the New York Festivals; Metro won a Gold WorldMedal in 2006, another Bronze WorldMedal in 2005, and a Finalist Certificate in 2004. Ray Walsh, President and CEO of Metro Productions, had this to say about the honor: "Of all the awards we have won over the years, we are most proud of our New York WorldMedals. This competition pits Metro against the best in the business, and this award proves that we are one of the best."

Now in their 51st year, the New York Festivals recognize “The World’s Best Work” in advertising, programming, film, and other communications. The NYF network of representatives, tasked with finding the top work worldwide, spans 65 countries around the globe. The NYF WorldMedals are particularly prestigious, as there is only one Gold, Silver, and Bronze medal given per category.

Metro accepted the challenge of developing a video for Northrop Grumman that created a sense of excitement and drama about the unsung heroes in most corporate organizations: technical services. Through the use of a movie trailer motif, Metro painted a portrait of an extremely important division that is involved in just about every aspect of Northrop Grumman’s business… making the viewer truly wonder, “Who Are These Guys?” This is the first award received for “Who Are These Guys;” Metro has previously won multiple Telly Awards, Communicators, Accolades, Summit Creative Awards, U.S. International Film and Video, and Videographer Awards for various productions.
